Administrative Committees
The Church Council provides for administration of the church. It plans, implements and evaluates a program of nurture, outreach, witness, mission, ministry and resources. Contact: Colleen Rumsey
The Endowment Fund provides an opportunity to give a gift that keeps on giving. Gifts can be directed to a general fund, a music and worship fund or education fund. Each year interest and dividends are used to expand existing ministries or start new ones. Any committee or individual can petition the Endowment committee for sponsorship of a ministry. The finance committee proposes a budget; then raises, manages, and distributes the financial resources of the congregation to support and strengthen the mission and ministry of the congregation. Contact: Art Sanderson
The lay leader represents the lay people in the congregation in working with the pastor for the mission and vision of the congregation. The Lay Member attends annual conference as a voting member for the church and is responsible for educating and reporting information from the Annual Conference to the congregation. Welcomes guests with information about church activities and missions. We support the pastor with baptisms and new members joining our church. The committee contacts seniors and others who may need a helping hand. Serving lunch several times a year is one of those contacts. Contact: Aleta Schweigert
The Memorials Committee is responsible for managing memorial gifts given in memory of deceased individuals. This includes receiving donations, maintaining records, and ensuring the funds are used according to the wishes of the donors or the families of the deceased. Contact: Jean Sheviak
The Parsonage Committee collaborates with Trustees to arrange, supervise, and arrange payment for standard maintenance and repairs, and renovation of the parsonage. Contact: Nancy Keenholts
This committee collects, organizes, and maintains historical documents, photos, and other materials that tell the story of the church and its members. It ensures proper storage and disposal of records. Contact: Jean Sheviak
This committee is a confidential committee as listed in the Book of Discipline. This group plays a role in maintaining relationships between the staff, pastors, and the congregation. This is the group within the church that handles all personnel matters, both legal and ethical. Contact: Deb Rubenstein
The Technical Team supports and maintains the church’s computer systems, audio, video and live stream systems, email platform, website development and Facebook. Contact: Valerie Perrotte
Trustees function as Christian stewards of property God has entrusted to the congregation. This includes supervising and maintaining both the physical property of the congregation and gifts made to the congregation so that the ministries of the congregation can be effective and all legal requirements related to the property are satisfied. Ministries
Worship Ministries
Music Activities include Sanctuary Choir, children’s choir, handbell choir, chime choir, and special music coordinated by the choir director, organist, and directors of the handbell and chime choirs. Contact: Church Office
Worship Team fosters excellent worship services by communicating with the leadership and finding resources for enhancing the worship experience. Assists the Pastor in planning the worship service and its contents. Contact: Jean Sheviak
Education Ministries
A Tuesday morning book club is held throughout the year. Evening book studies, Advent and Lenten studies are scheduled periodically. Contact: Church Office
Christian Education assists the Youth Education Coordinator in organizing fundraisers, church youth activities, and vacation bible school. The group helps to promote our Sunday School and Youth Group to the community. . Contact: Lauren Lehmann
A community event for all ages to showcase their artistic talents. It is held on the first Saturday in March. Contact: Beth Buckner
A community event held in the spring with music, crafts, educational displays and good food. Profits are used to enhance ongoing ministries. Contact: Carrie Larson
This community group meets weekly Tuesdays 1:00-4:00. Beginners are welcome to come and learn this popular game. Contact: Nancy Keenholts
Caring Ministries
Caring Ministries includes several teams (ministries) that serve the church community and beyond. Contact: John Schmidt
Every day, blood donors help patients of all ages: accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and those battling cancer. In fact, every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. Blood Drives are hosted at our church several times a year. Contact: Carrie Larson
The Coffee House experience has a long history in our church dating back to the 1960’s. In 2004, Coffee Houses started up again and between 2004 and March of 2020, five Coffee Houses ran yearly with a roster of up to 36 performers. A free-will entrance fee resulted in a little under $20,000 which was distributed to local charities including our Family Assistance Ministry. Contact: Carrie Larson
EcoTeam promotes loving stewardship of the earth through recycling, reuse of items, highway cleanup and education. Contact: Kevin Conley
Life altering crises change lives in an instant resulting in loss of income and challenges to health and faith. Family Assistance is there when all else fails, helping to restore pride and pay for food, gas and heat. Contact: Carrie Larson
The Good News Group supports seniors living at Hawthorne Ridge. A study group meets weekly led by two volunteers from the church. Communion is available once a month. Contacts: Carrie Larson and Jean Sheviak
Made By Hand With Love shares fellowship while using our time, talents, and treasures to create items that provide comfort to others. Some projects include- hats for kids with cancer, afghans for VA Hospital patients and Hospice families, Care Shawls for ALS patients and more. Contact: Aleta Schweigert
Our mission is to promote mental health awareness and resources within our community through educational opportunities, faith-based support and referrals to mental health services. Monthly meetings are held to help us realize that we are more alike than we are different. Members strive to end the stigma that surrounds mental illness and promote good health. Missions and Social Responsibility (MSR) develops and supports many projects providing direct service to people in crisis and need, educational opportunities focusing on social justice topics and financial support to local, national and international charities. Held on the first Wednesday night of the month, our Storytelling Nights feature area speakers on a variety of topics. Our belief is that everyone has a story to tell. Contact: Beth Buckner
Other Ministries
The United Women in Faith is an organization within the church and is a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
